HOW WE WORK WITH AGENTS

A good agent can make lots of money placing students in international schools. That is why so many people are giving it a try. Cambrian Academy gets five to ten calls EVERY WEEK from one "education consulting company" or another. Everyone has at least one or two relatives in China or Vietnam, so they think they can get a commission for placing their own "nephew" in a school and somehow build a business from there. Nine out of ten times, the school never hears from that "agent" again.

Cambrian Academy will work with and pay agents who have a good track record in the business and who are known to represent schools honestly.

We are well aware that agents represent their students and are already paid by the students. We also realize that you probably found out about us from the first student who asked you about us. If we paid merely for referrals, that first one should go to the student, right? However, in some cases an agent finds us while looking for a school in the geographical location requested by the student and actually does present Cambrian Academy as the best option in the area.

In any case, what we are paying an agent for is helping to streamline the process of enrolling international students, not just "having" a student. An agent who already knows about us and recommends us to their clients as the best option in the area, and who helps the student through the application process, saves us some time and effort. That is what we value.

Occasionally, we do work with beginners who approach us honestly about their plans. Too often, beginners start by presenting a fake student to schools to get their foot in the door. This wastes valuable time. Say that you are a beginner up front, and we may look for some quieter office time to talk with you about how to get started.

Also, Cambrian Academy is one of the very best at helping students adjust to the Education Culture in America before going into college, especially Chinese and Vietnamese students (Two very different approaches--not all Asian countries are the same!).

EXPECTATIONS

Our Agent Agreement states the main requirements for agents who wish to work with us. If you are already an established business with a track record, and you can work within the guidelines stated in the agreement, please let us know.

CONSIDERATIONS

New agents sometimes wonder why a school would be selective about which agents they work with. Don't schools just want more students? Not really! There is a lot to consider when a third party is presenting your school to their clients.

Is the agent telling the truth about the school?

  • We had a student arrive who claimed the agent said we could be paid monthly instead of the whole year up front.
  • We had a student arrive who thought we would be providing homestay at no extra charge.
  • We have had agents tell students that once they arrive here on our visa they can switch to US public schools and attend for free. This is using our school to commit immigration fraud.
None of this is helpful to our school. The purpose of working with a student's agent is to help the school save time and effort, not to increase the burden. If the first referral goes well, and we do offer a contract, you will be making good commissions (in addition to what the student is paying you) very quickly.

Are we wasting time training an agent who has only one student (or none at all)?

  • Is the person pretending to be an agent to get a commission on his own relative?
  • Is there really a student at all, or is this person just using us to learn about the business? (Every intro starts by telling us, I have a student interested in your school, and we don't want to be in a relationship that started wtih a lie.)
  • Does this person know that the business requires work and not just referrals?

For every 1 good agent we have found, there are easily 100 con artists and fakes who are either helping students commit immigration fraud or trying to get commissions paid for sending their own relatives.

This is why we value a good Agent when we find one.
